Why do we blog?

I'd be interested in hearing from both my writers and everyone else reading our humble blog. Why do we blog? What effects will blogs have on the coming presidential election? How do we assess the validity of a blog verses the validity of a letter to the editor?

What makes blogging appealing?

These questions surround the very essence of blogging. Blogging is the fastest growing media form according to a recent report by the Project for Excellence in Journalism. Does this mean newspapers will vanish? magazines?

If you have an opinion on the art of blogging and it's impact on mass media, I'd love to hear it.

Nick J. Sciullo, Editor in Chief: Nick J. Sciullo graduated from the University of Richmond with a B.A. in history and urban practice and policy along with a minor in rhetoric and communications studies. He graduated with a J.D. from West Virginia University College of Law. His work has appeared in numerous newspapers, the SCROLL: Howard University Journal of Social Justice and the Whittier Law Review. His current article is forthcoming in the Seton Hall Journal of Sports and Entertainment Law.

Frederick Dolan, Senior Politics and Society Writer: Prof. Dolan has spent years in academia teaching at UC-Berkeley, UC-Irvine, and the California College of the Arts. He received his Ph.D. in political philosophy from Princeton University. His interests span Foucault to Hegel, rhetoric to postmodernism. Prof. Dolan's work has appeared in many of the finest journals in the United States and abroad.

Nisha Chittal, Senior Politics Writer: Nisha Chittal is an experienced online writer. She has written on U.S. politics and international relations. She is pursuing her B.A. in political science with a minor in Islamic World Studies at the University of Illinois--Urbana-Champaign.

Binoy Kampmark, Senior Politics and International Relations Writer Binoy recived his Ph.D. from Cambridge. and his M.Phil. from the University of Queensland. He is experienced in international relations, international law, genocide, and international history.

Jared L. Cantin, Politics Writer: Jared received his B.A. in social sciences from the University of Maine at Farmington. He went on to receive his J.D. from the Thomas Jefferson School of Law. Jared is experienced in contract negotiation, management, and review.

Simon Waxman, Politics and International Relations Writer: Simon received his B.A. in international relations with a minor in history from Johns Hopkins University. He has extensive experience with print media and previously interned for Congressman Barney Frank (MA-4).

Russ Montgomery, Politics and Healthcare Writer: Russ earned his B.A. in political science at Hendrix College. He is experienced in healthcare writings and research. In December 2006, his work entitled Arkansas Medicaid Primer, in which he was the primary author, was published by the Arkansas Center for Health Improvement . He interned for Senator Mark Pryor (AR).

Matthew Cole, Junior Politics Writer: Matthew is pursuing his B.A. in political science with a concentration in gender studies at Carleton College. Matthew has a wide range of experience on everything from gender issues to international issues to environmental issues.

Chloe Lutts, Junior Politics and International Relations Writer: Chloe is pursuing her B.A. in international relations at Brown University. Chloe has experience in writing and editing print media. She studied at the American University of Paris.
